Social Services

Kids In Crisis, Judy Zendell, Development/Marketing Coordinator

Kids In Crisis is the only agency that provides Connecticut children and their families with free, around-the-clock crisis prevention and intervention counseling. In addition the agency offers a comprehensive Emergency Shelter Program for newborns to 18 year olds.

One of our newest community programs is Lighthouse, which serves LGBTQ+ teens with supportive, confidential spaces where they can express themselves freely, share challenges, find support, and create and enjoy unique social events and shared learning experiences.

Lighthouse is a free resource and open to any teen who would like to join. During the pandemic it is meeting weekly on Zoom and now, following new state social distance guidelines, in-person, monthly.

Kids In Crisis does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, community of origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, or socio-economic level. It also provides crisis and violence prevention education, behavioral health counseling, restorative justice, social-emotional learning, and LGBTQ+ programming in K-12 schools and community programs.

For any questions about the program, please contact lighthouse@kidsincrisis.org.
